e.l.f. Eyebrow kit

This kit. I have a love hate relationship with. It frustrates me because I always accidentally make my brows too dark or I look like I literally did absolutely nothing to my brows. Though as I have experimented I have found the perfect combination. Before I was using the wax and then the powder which usually resulted in me looking like I have alien eyebrows and then I was just using the powder and that did some but not too much. I have found that using the powder on my inner brows (closest to my nose) and the wax, very lightly, on my outer brows works the best for me.
I have this kit in medium and I have medium brown hair. Oh also for reference I have light/medium skin.

Onto the actual product. This product as mentioned above has a powder and a tinted wax and comes with a dual ended brush, a fluffy end for the powder and an angled end for the wax. The wax is dark brown and on the neutral to cool end of the spectrum. The was is soft and easily blended, it has about 50% opacity, meaning it does not look exactly like whats in the pan when you rub your finger in it. It is easily buildable, but I recommend cleaning that end of the brush very regularly because it does get kind of clumpy and nasty.

The powder side of the kit is a lighter brown color, it is matte. It too is easily blendable and has a fairly decent opacity.

Wax on the right, powder on the left

Overall I do enjoy this little kit, when I actually do my brows, once you find a good way to use it for yourself it works a whole lot better. You will need a setting gel if you have unruly eyebrows, which thankfully I don't have. Though I do recommend the e.l.f. clear brow and mascara. BUT you need to use a light hand otherwise you have icky goopy eyebrows.

Sephora Formula X

These nail polishes have received a lot of hype. I recently got my hands on two different types of the Formula X polishes. I got Invincible, a light nude-y colored one, and Phenomena, a neon purple. They both apply nicely, but I have one question. What is up with the fake caps? I tried to twist it off and obviously that did not open the polish. I feel like all nail polishes have these weird pseudo caps. Thankfully the mini polishes don't have the same pseudo cap, so I didn't have as much of a problem getting into the mini one.
The mini one I have is Invincible as mentioned above it is a light nude-y color. It leans a little to the pink side of nude. Though it is much too light to look like you have no polish on. Invincible needs two or more coats as it does apply a little streaky, they both do to be honest. It dries to a normal shiny/dull-ish finish. You will probably need three coats just to be safe.

I do have a full size of the neon purple, Phenomena. For both of the polishes there is nothing really special about the brush. This polish requires more than one coat :( The first coat does look more magenta than purple, so be aware. After two coats the polish is pretty opaque but even after two coats it looks way more pink than purple. In some lights, like yellow incandescent lights, it does appear more purple. But in fluorescent lights it looks super pink.
Pseudo Cap
So all in all, will I go out and buy more immediately? Probably not. They are nice but they are pretty similar to drugstore nail polishes, though they do go a day or more longer without chipping than regular drugstore polishes. Though a polish comparable in both look and wear are the CoverGirl Outlast nail polishes, except they don't have the pseudo cap! :) stardoll

Beauty School: Perfume Edition

1. Here 2. Here 3. Here 4. Here

I know, I know, perfume? Seriously? Yes, I believe perfume is very important to your overall look. Often you hear of how you should have a signature scent, well I personally have like 20 signature scents hahahahaha.....yikes... Okay but seriously I have always wondered how exactly do you go about finding your signature scent? Here are some simple guidelines.

  1. Gather all the perfumes you own and smell them. (and if you don't own any go to some perfume place like sephora or ulta and bring some paper and a pencil)
  2. Pick out your favorite ones. (write them down, hence the paper and a pencil, or you know your phone)
  3. Go to a scent description website (such as this website )
  4. Check out the key notes in the perfume you like
  5. Find perfumes with similar and decide which you would like to be known for.
A signature scent you want to represent yourself. Like after you break up with a boy and you smell his cologne and it makes you think of him. That's what you really want, not necessarily the whole breaking up thing but just in general. Like Pink Friday by Nicki Minaj makes me think of my best friend, that's her signature scent.

Oh! but wait I forgot the most important guideline! Have fun!

Beauty School: Lip colors for Beginners

Hey ducklings, okay I know. Lipstick is scary! What if I look like a clown? What if it gets on my teeth? I know, don't worry, I do. I've come up with a list of less scary lip products to ease your beautiful-ness into the world of lipsticks (I'm still kind of on this journey...)

1. Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Pink Lemonade

This lip butter was the first one I ever owned, if that tells you anything. It is a creme finish, so no sparkle. YAY! I look bad with glitter on my lips haha...

The color does come off a tinge more orange than it really is, and no it does not come off super duper pink on the lips either, its a nice "your lips but slightly pinker, and cuter" shade hahaha.

2. Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Blushing Rose

I really do NOT like lip gloss (wait till you get to number 6 haha). It's sticky and goopy and nasty, most of the time... So when I saw that Almay made a liquid lip balm I had to try it out and THANK THE LORD it is not sticky, even if you put like..... I don't know.....maybe six coats of it on..... haha.
This color like matches my lips perfectly which kind of freaks me out because this shade looks a little brown to me (aka are my lips really that brown?!?) But! Don't worry it comes off (at least on me) more rosy than brown and is the perfect neutral lip for me:)

3. Vaseline Lip Therapy in Rosy Lips

If you've never put ANY color on your lips, please start with this, unless you are super duper confident. This give the perfect pink tint to your lips without them looking like Barbie, or candy, just
the tiniest pink that is adorable. (and it hydrates your lips! Woo Hoo!)

4. Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me

This is really not as scary as it looks, on the lips it comes off as more of a subtle pinky red, than say fire engine red.

5. Jordana Twist & Shine Lip Balm Stain in Honey Love

I MAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUUUVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEE it darling. Haha get it?  The last picture kind of sums up, and does a better job of, what I was going to say here.......

Sheered out on the left, saturated on the right

6. Nyx Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Sugar Pie

And now you're all like "Child, what is this? you said you hate lip gloss?!" I actually said I hate MOST lip gloss but not all. On the rare occasion I actually found a brand of lip gloss I was o.k. with wearing, and this is it (obviously).  This does have little shimmery flecks in it (I know, I know, I said I hated glitter too...). Clearly I am a contradiction just waiting to happen haha.

This is perfect to wear on its own, or even put it over that new lipstick you just bought that you are a wee bit scared to wear. It'll tone it down perfectly until you can rock that lipstick solo.

It has a funny looking doe foot applicator

*Sigh* I have to go to work soon :(
