Makeup Breakdown: Liquid Lipstick

Hello! I hope you are doing well! Today I'm going to breakdown all of my liquid lipsticks and tell you which ones are my favorites, and which ones are, well, not. Also please excuse the random cucamelons and tomato? I didn't realize they were in the pictures when I took them.

First up are the Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks! These can be purchased on Colourpop.com for $6. From left to right the shades are: Midi, Solow, Cluesless, and Bumble. They have a very thin, liquidy, almost water like consistency. This is probably my least favorite formula of liquid lipstick, it is very drying and flakes. I am one of those people who habitually, and unconsciously, rubs my lips together and when I did that with these on the product flaked even more than with just normal wear. However, on the plus side, they are long wearing and the price doesn't break the bank.

Next up is TheBalm's Meet Matt(e) Hughes liquid lipsticks. These retail for $17 at kohls.com.
The shade shown above is Committed. This is a warm terra cotta mauve shade, similar to Kat Von D's Lolita but lighter. Meet Matte Hughes have a Girl Scout thin mint cookie smell, they have decent wear time, and do not flake. They also have a mousse like texture. Unfortunately they remain tacky on the lips, but I have found setting it with translucent powder helps some of the tackiness, or if you eat that also helps the tackiness.

Now we have the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. These retail for $20 at Sephora.com. The shades shown above left to right are: Lolita and Lovesick. The Everlasting liquid lipsticks have a thin, watery consistency similar to the Colourpop ultra matte ones, however these do not flake and are not as drying. They have a good wear time and hold up decently through eating and drinking. These do have a slight sweet scent but once they have dried down completely (which takes like no time) you can't smell anything. This is one of my favorite formulas.

Next up is the Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in Namaste. The full size retails for $20 at Sephora.com. This lip paint has a minty cookie smell as well, however, it is not as strong as the scent of the Meet Matte Hughes lipstick. The Tarteist lip paint has a thin moussey texture as well and it dries down to a satiny texture that is very pleasant, for me. This, unfortunately, is not very long wearing and doesn't last through eating or drinking, well unless you drink through a straw... Regardless of the staying power this is still one of my favorite formulas. One bad thing though, is that there is some oily leakage that escapes, it's not a lot, but still annoying.

Halfway through! The Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in the shade Seduction. This retails for about $7.99 at target.com. However you can also get it at Ulta.com for $8.99. Application of this product can be a bit tricky, because if you apply too much it doesn't dry down matte, but if you don't apply enough it can look patchy and streaky. If you get the perfect amount it still takes a few minutes to dry down matte, and once it does it has decent wear time, not as great as say Kat Von D, but decent. This liquid lipstick has a strong scent, probably the strongest of them all. It smells like chemical fruit and frosting, it does linger for a little bit until it dries, but then I didn't notice it much after that. The texture of the product is thicker and not moussey, but the applicator is great.

The OFRA Long lasting liquid lipsticks retail for $19.90 at ofracosmetics.com. These have a moussey, light texture and feel nice on the lips, they don't get drying until after a few hours of wear. They have pretty good wear time for being moussey and they have a nice cake scent. They are some of my favorites. Shown above are the shades: Pasedena and Mina.

Up next is the Colourpop Ultra Satin Lips. These also, like their matte cousins retail for $6 at Colourpop.com. I personally prefer the satin lips over the matte lips from Colourpop by leaps and bounds. The formula is thicker and almost moussey, but not quite. It has no real noticeable scent. These do not dry down completely so there is some transfer but they wear throughout the day quite well. The shade shown above is Dopey, which is a perfect fall color! This is probably my favorite formula (and price point) out of them all!

Finally, the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in the shade Bella. The full size retails for $16 at Sephora.com, which is a pretty decent price point compared to the other higher end liquid lipsticks. They have a sweet, non offensive scent that dissipates quickly. The formula is thin, but not watery thin. It dries quickly and lasts for most of the day. These are drying, but I mean that is to be expected, I don't love this formula but I don't hate it, if I owned a color that actually looked good on me I'd probably like them more. I look like a crazy clown when I wear this shade, it's actually really funny.

What is your favorite liquid lipsticks? Any that I absolutely have to try? Let me know down below!

Makeup Breakdown: Cream Blush

Hello all! There are so many different types of cream blushes it is crazy. No formula is created equally so today I'm going to breakdown what I love and what I don't love about six very different cream blush formulas!

First up is the traditional cream blush formula. This one is the shade coral by bella Pierre. The formula is thick and not greasy (like a lot of traditional cream blushes are) however that makes it a smidge hard to blend. It does appear patchy when you first blend it out but if you keep blending the color evens out and does not look patchy. Which can be seen in the picture. It swatches very nicely. This cream blush since it is not greasy would be more ideal for someone with normal to maybe a smidge oily, definitely not recommend for people who have dry patches as this does cling to them.
Rating: 5/10

Up next is the Josie Maran coconut watercolor cheek gelee in island pink. These retail for around $22 at Sephora. This formula feels like a stiff jelly. Like when you make jello in the wrong bowl and the bottom gets kinda hard? That's what it feels like. As you can see in the swatch it does look a little patchy, but once it is blended out it no longer looks patchy. This formula is perfect for the summer and for when you want super minimal, very natural makeup.
Rating: 7/10

Next (which I forgot to include in the main picture) is the Maybelline dream bouncy blush in fresh pink, which retails for $5-$7 at Walmart and target. In the initial swatch you can see it does bunch up in a few areas, but that goes away when you blend it out. Unfortunately the lighter shades on this formula will only show up on fair/light complected people, while the darker blushes blend out kind of patchy and splotchy. At least in my experience with them. Also can we all appreciate how awkward my hand looks in this picture? Hahaha
Rating: 5.5/10

The master glaze formula from maybelline (again $5-$7 at Walmart and target) is much better than the bouncy blushes. It swatches well and blends out like a dream. This is my favorite drugstore cream blush formula that I've tried so far   It doesn't have the best lasting power, but the wear time goes up when layered with a powder blush. Another bonus is, even though it doesn't look like it you actually get more product in this than in the bouncy blushes. My only gripe is that the plastic cover is cracking, which sucks.
Rating: 8/10

Ahh the tarte cheek and lip stains, these retail for $30/full size at ulta. These stains are probably my least favorite. The formula is very thin and most of the ones I have tried, with the exception of one lack in the pigmentation department. I find that these stay sticky on my cheeks for the whole day, even if I set them with a powder product. However, they do smell pretty nice. They also have a tendency to "sweat" a lot. Even if they are stored in a cool area. On the plus side the color, if you can get it to show up on you, it does last a while (probably because of the stickiness).
Rating: 3/10

Up next is the colourpop blush in nonfiction which is a pearlized finish. This retails for $8 on colourpops website. Here's the low down, the matte blushes stink. They're patchy, hard to use, just plain terrible. HOWEVER the pearlized blushes are amazing! They blend like a dream, not even the slightest bit patchy. They have a decent wear time and the formula is like a bouncy blush from maybelline but 20x's better. They're soft and creamy and dry down completely.
Rating: 2/10 for the matte blushes
Rating: 8/10 for the pearlized blushes

This is beccas beach tint in guava which retails for $25 at Sephora. This tint is long lasting and extremely easy to use and extremely hard to mess up. The beach tints are some of my favorite high end cream blushes. The packaging on these are the most sanitary of the ones I have reviewed. The formula is a little mousse-y and blends very quickly and beautifully into the skin. It blends out over foundation well but not as well after you set the foundation with powder, which is pretty accurate for all cream blushes.
Rating: 9.5/10

Last but certainly not least is the becca shimmering beach tint soufflé in watermelon/moonstone which retails for $27 at Sephora. The formula is very mousse-y and very bouncy. As you can see in the pictures it both swatches and blends out well. All of these potted blushes from becca are mixed with one of their highlights so none of the colors are matte. They all give a nice healthy glow to the face. The wear time is average and it looks the best with minimal, beachy makeup. The best thing about this blush though is the smell. It has a sweet watermelon scent and it is to die for! Unfortunately it is not as sanitary as the previous blush.
Rating: 9/10

(L to R: bella Pierre, Josie Maran, tarte.
Bottom row L to R: colourpop, becca beach tint, becca beach tint soufflé.)

Jingle voxbox

I received the jingle voxbox from influenster and I have really enjoyed having the box!

The box itself is adorable and nicely designed, I preferred how this box looked over the last one I received.

Inside the box was a variety of beauty, food, and kid related things. The Olaf itty bitty from hallmark is absolutely adorable and so soft. The lashes and lash glue are nice, but I'm not that big into false lashes so they're being saved for a special occasion. The NYC liner is extremely creamy and a nice rich dark brown color

The biscoff cookies are nice, I put some of the extra ones they sent me in little goodie bags as Christmas presents for some of my coworkers, they really enjoyed them 😄
I also received a coupon for a free bag or ore-Ida tater tots, which frankly are the best tots. I'm excited to make tater tot nachos!

Okay I have one question about the cetaphil moisturizing cream, is it for face or body? I've been using it on my face at night because it's thick, but not THAT thick. So if you know you should let me know haha.

Hope you enjoyed reading about my jingle voxbox. Hopefully my posts will get more frequent, I just haven't been motivated to blog, but I installed the app on my phone and that seems to make it easier so who knows!
Love ya!
