Limited Edition: Tarte Pin Up Girl Blush Palette

This palette contains 5 limited edition 12 hour Amazonian clay blushes. It retails for $42 (USD), I found mine at Sephora, but it is also available at Ulta, and at Tarte. Although at the time, it is not available at any of those three places online, but may be available in store.

These are all blushes, I know last years little palette like this had a bronzer. All of these blushes are soft and extremely pigmented. This is my first time using any of Tartes blushes and I used Whimsey with a relatively heavy hand. Needless to say I had to use a makeup remover wipe and start over. I love blush, but I hate clowns. These are relatively soft blushes, they do kick up a bit of powder when you try to get it on your brush. It is easy to clear away, on the plus side

(L to R) Breathless, Embraced, and Whimsy

Breathless is a pinky beige, that I personally think leans more beige than pink. This color is perfect for when you have a lot going on on your face. It gives you a natural little flush, that is beautiful but not distracting. This blush is matte.

Embraced is a hard color to describe! It looks mauvey-purpley-iridescent-rose-ish shade. On the box they, who are much better at describing colors, simply call is a plummy rose. Well I was close. When sheered out it looks simply stunning. It gives you a "lit from within" kinda glow (hence the iridescence mentioned earlier). It builds beautifully, even sheered out you can tell it is more of a plum shade.

Whimsy, I have a love hate relationship with this blush. I want to hate it because of the first time I used it disaster but it is SO BEAUTIFUL. This light pink almost bordering Barbie pink matte shade will give you a youthful glow, when used with a gentle hand.

(L to R) Whimsy, Bashful, and Irreplaceable

Bashful, to me I would say that is definitely coral, but to Tarte it is a rosy peach shade (shimmery with some small glitter). If you are worried about the minor glitter in this shade, never fear you don't really notice it on the skin :). This one reminds me of Coralista, I could be wrong as I'm not looking at them both side by side, but it is REALLY pretty. This is the shade I want to marry. Haha just kidding. This is good for a subtle natural looking makeup day. Since there is shimmer you could skip the highlighter if you are short on time.

Irreplaceable is a mauve/rose matte blush. Like with Whimsy you need to use a really light hand. This color gives you a "just-outside-in-the-cold" natural kind of flush.

(L to R) Breathless, Embraced, Whimsy, Bashful, and Irreplaceable

All in all, do you need this palette? Yes, if you can get your hands on it. I think it is a good way to get exposed to some of Tarte's more popular products at a cheaper rate. Each blush in this palette is .158 Oz and a full sized blush is .2 Oz. So with this palette you are essentially getting around almost 4 full sized blushes worth of product for the price of 1 and a half blushes. I do think the packaging is cute, a little bulky but really cute and as a bonus you get two wearable hair pins. Also an FYI just because it is out of stock online does not mean that your local store does not have it. When I purchased it, it was out of stock online but they had it in stores.

Have a fabulous day ducklings!

Mary Kay Mini Haul

Who hasn't tried satin hands before? *chirp chirp* I don't think I've ever met anyone who hasn't tried the satin hands kit from Mary Kay. Every time you go to a party or a little makeover you do the satin hands thing. I recently go a few little things from this lady I know. I believe she sells Mary Kay.

In the cutest little reusable bag I got the satin hands collection, a Mary Kay at play lip gloss in Teddy Bear, Mary Kay Vanilla mint lip balm, and Sun Shades lip balm in Caramel Toffee. The last one is not Mary Kay.

There is not much to say about satin hands that hasn't already been said. I have the unscented version and it leaves your hands feeling silky and all around amazing.

The Mary Kay at Play Jelly lip gloss is sticky but not goopy sticky. It is really thick and a little uncomfortable on the lips, in my opinion, which could simply be because I don't really like lip gloss. As far as lip glosses go though, I do prefer this over many other glosses. If you leave your lips together for a long time when you pull them apart it does feel like the gloss is pulling between your lips.

Mary Kay lip balm in Vanilla mint smells so good. It has a similar consistency to those Carmex lip things in the tube, but thinner. I prefer this one over the Jelly lip gloss. Though it is not really fair to compare them, as one is a gloss the other is a balm. I really like the balm.

Sun Shades lip balm smells even better than the vanilla mint balm. It is like a typical chapstick, except that it is less waxy. The only downside is, at least on mine, is I can't get it to role back down.

Hope you all had a good Thanksgiving :)

Limited Edition: Too Faced Beauty Wishes & Sweet Kisses

This palette smells SO GOOD! It smells like chocolate, what more can you want? If you really wanted to try the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette, but did not want all the un-neutral colors or you just want to try more than eye shadows this set is for YOU!!

This palette comes with three eye shadows from the Chocolate Bar palette (White Chocolate, Creme Brulee, and Haute Chocolate), two bronzers (Chocolate Soleil Bronzer and Snow Bunny Bronzer), and finally one La Creme Lip Gloss in Naked Dolly.

The only new product in this palette is the lip gloss (these will be available individually in spring 2015), everything else can be purchased individually which is a down side, but I personally love this for traveling. I often use the Snow Bunny bronzer as a highlighter and then all I need to pack is a few more essentials.
Top (left to right): Chocolate Soleil, Snow Bunny, and Naked Dolly
The Chocolate Soleil bronzer is an absolute dream, it blends out so well. The first time I used it I was in shock at how well it blended out! And the smell? Heavenly. Snow Bunny is probably my least favorite out of everything in this kit, but I don't hate it. I used a pretty heavy hand with it the first time I used it :/ so use a very light hand or you'll look like a disco ball. The La Creme lip gloss has a minty smell and it rather thick but not sticky (unless you apply a lot of it, which I did once haha). It deposits color surprising well for as light of a shade as it is. As a lip gloss hater I approve of this gloss.
(Left to right): White Chocolate, Creme Brulee, and Haute Chocolate
I've had one other Too Faced palette (Natural Eyes, I think? I don't remember at the moment and don't feel like looking) and these shadows are like 5x's better. They are smooth and apply and blend like a dream. They also smell like chocolate, which I like. I like to, for an everyday look, apply Creme Brulee all over the lid and blend it out through the crease and apply White Chocolate on the brow bone and inner corner of my eyes. I typically use Haute Chocolate as a liner unless I want a deeper look. These shadows are very pigmented. The swatches above are just one rub in the pan and one rub on my hand. That kinda rhymed. I do it all the time. Hahahahaah okay I'm done.

Do you need this? Definitely not if you have all of these individual items. If you can't commit to a huge palette? Then you need it haha :) I personally have problems committing to palettes that I can buy everyday. It is much easier for me to justify spending the money when it is limited edition. You can find this gift set at Sephora and Ulta or Too Faced's website for $34.

Bath and Body Works Haul

I went to B&BW last week and while I was there they had their aroma therapy lotions and body washes on sale. So of course I picked up a few because they were a little over 50% off. Of course you can't leave B&BW without any candles, so I grabbed a few scents that are new or that I didn't have.

Leaves, Spiced Pumpkin Cider, and Thanksgiving Morning (Pumpkin Pecan Waffle)
Stress Relief - Eucalyptus  Spearmint (They have a limited edition bottle of this one for Christmas)

Sensual - Black Currant Vanilla

Sleep - Lavender Vanilla

Garnier 5 Second Blur

Garnier 5 Second Blur is one of the newer face primers to hit the market after the whole Porefessional craze started. Now there are a bunch of different primers that all claim to be miraculous and give you angel soft skin and blur everything from wrinkles to your entire nose. hahah just kidding... So how does this compare to the others? Specifically the Porefessional.

The Garnier primer has a similar color and consistency to the Porefessional primer. Though the Garnier one has a thicker consistency and is a smidgen more pink. But once blended into the skin they feel silky. The Garnier one is in fact a little bit more silky than the Porefessional. With continued rubbing the Garnier one seems to wear off faster than Benefits the Porefessional.

So bottom line. It  is a nice primer if you are really good at NOT touching your face. Makeup applies well and looks good over top of this primer. So if you would rather spend $15 for a 1 fl. oz tube over $31 for a .75 fl oz you should definitely do it. I think you will enjoy this primer.

* update: I'm pretty sure this made me break out and after using it consistently for a few weeks I have determined that it was not the right primer for me

Limited Edition: Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot

I think that the Cheeky Sweet Spot palette is the best. Thing. Ever. I mean it has almost all of the benefit box o' powders except for like one or two or three. This set contains Hoola (.17oz), Dandelion (.14oz), Coralista (.17oz), Bella Bamba (.17oz), Rockateur (.17oz), Sugarbomb (.21oz), and you get a Watts Up! (.05oz). That is a lot of product, this set retails for $36 USD and is available at Ulta, Sephora, and Benefits website
Dandelion, a nice soft shade. It would be really hard to see this on darker skin tones.
Bella Bomba, was a little powdery. I also expected it to be a much deeper pink.

Sugar Bomb, also would not be the best on darker skin tones.
Hoola, I've had this one before. It is a rather neutral bronzer though it does lean a smidge orange.

Coralista, I had high hopes for this blush and aside from being a litter powdery, as you can see above. It did not let me down.
Rockateur, this would look really pretty layered over other blushes, as it is on the light side.

All six of them
I don't have any complaints over Watt's Up! I think it looks beautiful on any skin tone. I think these blushes for the most part would show better on lighter skin tones. Like the deathly pale people like me haha. Other than they aren't the darkest of blushes I really like this little kit and would recommend it. It is a fabulous deal!

Candle Hoarders Anon

I hoard candles. Sometimes I forget don't want to burn them because they are so beautiful and smell so beautiful! I recently branched out from the usual Bath and Body Works candles because Target had cheap yummy smelling ones! I picked up two or their scented soy candles, that's the only brand name I could find on them, in Vintage Linen and Sweet Spun Sugar. They both smell awesome but aren't soy candles supposed to burn super amazingly?

I've only been burning one so far, Vintage linen, but it doesn't burn evenly at all which is kind of a bummer :(.
Pardon the wax, it looks really nasty in this picture

Vintage Linen smells like fabric softener, like how you always want those fresh cotton scents to smell but they never do and the Sweet Spun Sugar smells exactly like cotton candy. What I'm curious about is if the cotton candy one will smell like burnt sugar when it's burning? Haha that smells nasty.

These unfortunately were both just summer scents, they have though since released a bunch of yummy fall scents. I would say if you don't mind uneven wax pick some of these up. They are $5 USD for the smaller ones and $10 USD for the bigger ones. Both of the ones I have a the smaller $5
ones.
