Makeup Bag Friday 5

Hi all! Hope you had a wonderful week! I am going to apologize right now, because most of these products I have already talked about there is only like 1 or 2 new products everything else has either already been in a makeup bag post or been reviewed. Nonetheless I hope you enjoy anyway!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder
I talked about it here, and none of my thoughts have changed. I am making a serious dent in this powder, which is a little weird since I have dry skin. So if you are interested in this just know it goes pretty fast!

Urban Decay B6 Priming Spray
I FINISHED IT FINALLY! (here)

Laura Geller Spackle Supercharged Fortified Under Makeup Primer
I talked about it here!
I really like this even on its own, I might repurchase this after I go through primers. I probably won't because I like to try new things but I totally would repurchase this if it was on sale haha!

Lancome Teint Idole Ultrawear Makeup Stick
First impression/review here.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultrawear Camouflage
First impression/review here.

It Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Bronzer in Warm Radiance
I talked about it here! I still really am enjoying this! However, it is easy to go a little too heavy handed! Haha!

It Cosmetics Brow Power
I talked about it here! I am so sick of this thing, the product seems to never end! Also my spoolie fell off which makes me want to use it even less! I don't know what to do about this, who knew a brow product would be the death of me?!

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard
I talked about this here. I tried to use this as a spot concealer and that my friend did not end well. It looked super orange soooo I guess I will keep mixing it with my primer to make a tinted moisturizer. On the bright side I've noticed there is quite a bit less product in the tube now!

Lancome Click & Glow in Lumieres Rosees
First impression/review here.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Blushed Copper
For lighter skin tones this highlighter makes a beautiful bronzey blush. Unfortunately it was limited edition. :( I personally love to use this in the summer, but I also hate to use it because the design on it is so beautiful! However, if you have Laura Geller's Baked Blush in Pink Grapefruit, you don't need this. The two are very similar! Also use a light hand, this can go overboard very quickly!

Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Cafe
This was mentioned in this post! I somehow managed to finish this! Which is super exciting! I was so tired of this and I had only been using it for like 3 months! :)

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Fig
This is my favorite medium pink lipstick for spring! I love to blot it so that it creates a stain and then the color lasts longer! I love this formula, but the smell isn't my favorite, to me it smells like liquid amoxicillin, like what you got as a child.... Thankfully the smell isn't strong and it does fade quickly! I would like to get some more of these, especially like Honeycomb that colors looks super pretty to me!

Top Five: Drugstore Nude Lipsticks

Hello ducklings! About a week ago on instagram I snapped a pic of my favorite natural/neutral/nude/everyday lip colors and thought that I would give you some more information as to why I love them! I'll incllude the instagram post below!

These lipsticks are all super comfortable on the lips and are not drying! Isn't it the absolute worst when lipsticks dry out your lips? It is so nasty and unflattering! These lipsticks range in price from $2.94-$7.99 (USD). Although, if you wait for a sale you can get them super cheap!

The Milani color statement lipstick in Nude Creme is an absolute dream (haha see what I did there?). This lipstick looks like my lips but better. Nude creme is described as a pinky nude, but I would say there is some peach in there as well. Though it is not as peachy as say Frida. This is a cream finish lipstick, so it's not overly shiny nor is it matte. Since it is not matte is does fade faster but it still has decent wear time. One of the only potential down sides to this lipstick is the smell. It smells like watermelon candy, which does fade after a while, but you can kind of taste it. Which is weird.

Daringly Nude by Maybelline is a matte peachy brown nude lipstick. This was the most expensive lipstick, in part because I purchased it at Ulta, but I'm pretty sure I used a coupon or it was on sale? I don't remember haha. This lipstick is perfect for when you want to look put together without feeling heavy and cakey. Since it is matte is does stick around longer on the lips than a shiny lipstick would. However what is nice about this lipstick is that when it dries down and fades it doesn't leave your lips looking flaky and dry!

Nude and the City from Rimmel makes me want to watch Sex and the City, is that weird? No? Moving on.... This is one of the darker lipsticks that I chose. This is a more brown pink that has a more glossy finish than the rest. This is also, though, probably the most comfortable on the lips. Which I would hope given the name of the line of lipsticks is moisture renew haha.

Natural by ELF is kind of a cheater product if you ask me. I use it to line my lips sometimes, I use it alone, I use it with a gloss, I use it to solve world hunger... hahaha. This is the more pink version of the Maybelline lipstick, except maybe not as comfortable on the lips. However, what saved this product is the packaging! The little end that has the color of the lipstick on it pops off and has a sharpener on it! How neat is that! I love it! (Which as you can see below I need to sharpen it haha)

Last but most certainly not least! Frida by Colourpop! This color was designed by Dani from Coffeebreakwithdani! Phew long name! It is incredibly flattering on so many skin types and tones. It is neat to see how it pulls on certain people, whether it goes more peach or pink. On my it leans more peachy. This color is, according to colourpops website, "a warm mid tone nude pink with a satin finish". With Colourpop lippie stix I am a little more picky, I am not a fan of the glossy ones, I can tolerate the creme and satins, and I really like the matte ones. The matte ones are definitely my faves out of their line.

I hope you enjoyed getting a closer look at five of my favorite drugstore lipsticks! Also if you want more makeupy stuff follow me on instagram! @makeup_books_love

Colourpop Phase 1 Nectar Review

Hi all! Have you picked up anything from Colourpop's monochromatic lines? I got two items from the Nectar Collection, but I will be skipping the Pink collection because I am not a fan of pink blushes (if you couldn't tell). This was my first time trying Colourpop's powder eyeshadows which I was really excited to try out, and obviously this was the first time trying their powder blush formula (obviously). Let me know down below what you picked up and what you loved or didn't love!

Blow Me Away Eyeshadow Quad - $18
This quad includes the shades: Take a Break (metallic), Issues (matte), Centerfold (matte), and Slim Fit (matte). These are very pigmented albeit a little powdering eyeshadows. My personal favorites from this quad are Take a Break and Issues, they are the best for everyday wear (for me). I feel like I am failing at reviewing eyeshadows? Like what even should I talk about? The wear time is pretty good without a primer and I have no issues with creasing, granted I don't have oily eyelids, in fact my skin has been insanely dry for the last week or so (plz help). I have been using this palette every day for the last week or so and I have really been enjoying it. Had I been the creator of it I would have included one more midtoned neutral peach shade because Issues is a little light for me to use as a crease shade but Centerfold is a little dark for me to use as a crease shade, just for reference I am pretty fair.

Top L-R: Take a Break, Issues, Centerfold, and Slim Fit.                              Bottom L-R: Excuse my French and Like to Watch

The Knockout Palette - $16
This is $1 more than the Topaz palette (here), which kind of threw me off at first because like, why? Anyway, these remind me a lot of the Topaz palette in terms of formula, but the highlighter (Like to Watch (this name though?)) is way way way way better than the highlighter in the Topaz Palette for my skin tone and it is much more sheeny and less glittery. Like to Watch is a beautiful peachy highlighter shade with a golden shift and I really like it. The blush (Excuse my French) is a beautiful mid tone peachy pink matte blush. I really like this shade for everyday wear, it looks natural and effortless (which fits my aesthetic (lol wut) of no makeup makeup).

I personally would recommend the blush palette over the eyeshadow palette, I would say just make your own eyeshadow palette with Colourpop for $2 more, which is what I am going to do next time I need eyeshadows (which will be like never, I have way too many). But the blush palette I love.

Makeup Bag Friday 4

Hi all! This week's makeup bag will be a little different, simply because I was out of town for the whole week visiting my Grandma!

Urban Decay B6 Priming Spray
Talked about it here.

Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in 2
I need to find a cruelty free brow pencil like this one. I like the thicker tip because that makes it easier and faster to do my brows. However, I have the wrong shade of this, I being the dummy I am ordered shade 2, when I need shade 4. Shade 2 is way to warm for my brows but I can and will make it work because I don't want to waste it.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard
Talked about it here.

Winky Lux Diamond Powder Foundation in Light
This is a very glowy powder. It is a very nice very average powder, so far it has not blown my socks off, but I am very picky when it comes to powders! I need to use this some more before I can give you my final thoughts on this powder.

BareMinerals The Magic Act Palette
This was the holiday palette from a few years ago and I use it almost (almost) exclusively for travel. It has a nice selection of neutral shades and has nice options for highlighter, blush, and bronzer. When I use it I primarily use A-HA! as a one shadow look and then I switch up the blushes. I really like this palette, it is one of the better all in one palettes that have been sold. I am kind of sad it is no longer available, but I wouldn't go and pay a ridiculous amount for it on Ebay.

Covergirl Outlast all day primer
Talked about it here

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid in Pearl
I like to mix this into my foundation/primer mix that I do nearly every day. Which is probably why I haven't been able to form a solid opinion of the Winky Lux powder. I really do enjoy this, but I wouldn't repurchase it.

Essence Lipstick in 06 Barely There!
This is one of my favorite lipstick formulas, for a cream finish.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Voxbox Unboxing

Hi all! Today I thought I would share with you the contents of my most recent voxboxes. If you don't know what Influenster is, it is a site that where you review products, answer questions, fill out "snaps" (which are like mini surveys), and get sent products to review.

Teint Idole Ultrawear Makeup Stick in 90 Ivoire (N)
This is the first true foundation stick I have ever tried, and this makes me want to try more so bad (especially cruelty free ones!). This shade is a smidge too light for me, but I'd rather it be too light than too dark, because that is easier to fix with some bronzer. This is light/medium coverage, but it is buildable. I prefer to blend it in with a beauty blender, as opposed to a brush, because with a brush it can be a little harder to blend out the edges where you swiped the foundation on your face. Overall my first impression of it is that it is super nice, but I do wish it was cruelty free also it is expensive.

Teint Idole Ultrawear Camouflage in 90 Ivoire/10 Beige Porcelaine
The Teint Idole concealer is thick, for comparison it is thicker than the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer but not as thick as the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereyes concealer. This could not cover my under eye circles, which honestly the It Cosmetics one doesn't either. I have genetic dark circles, so I always have them and they are dark. Plus on top of that my under eye skin is thin and crepe-y so heavy concealers look cakey and light concealers don't hide anything. Basically if I ever find a concealer that covers my under eye circles without looking cakey, I will buy it forever. This concealer is comparable to the ones I mentioned, it doesn't wow but, like the others, but it isn't bad.

Click & Glow Highlighting Skin Fluid in Lumieres Rosees
I like this but it is not a unique product. Years ago ELF had a product exactly like this, they don't have the exact product I was thinking of but their shimmering facial whips will give you the same metallic glow as this does. So if I were you I would save $22 and order the ELF one for $1.

Le Metallique Metallic Effect Lip Lacquer in 09 Mirrored Nude
This, unfortunately, is not very unique either. ELF also has the Pout Perfector which is the exact same product as this. This is a very gloopy lip gloss and I think it works best as something you pop in the middle of your lips. It is not my favorite at all, but keep in mind I don't like lip glosses, at all. I just think, why pay $22 for this one when you can spend $3 on the ELF one, which is cruelty free. I think especially if you are just wanting to try out the metallic lip gloss trend, go with ELF. But if you know you will use it and love it then maybe consider splurging for a Lancome one because they do have some pretty cool colors (like blue).

As mentioned above these products were sent to me for free by Influenster, however that will never change or sway my opinion of a product. Any questions let me know!

Makeup Bag Friday 3

Hi all! Hope you all had a wonderful week! Here is this weeks run down of products I used, kept, and decluttered! Let me know down below what products you used and loved (or didn't love) this week!

Urban Decay B6 Spray
This has now been in my basket for like 3 weeks and it is still not done! My opinion hasn't changed from the first time I talked about it here.

BareMinerals Blush in The Stolen Heart
This is a very sheer blush, which I really like. It has a mauve tone with a little bit of shimmer and a few flecks of glitter, but the glitter does not transfer onto the face. I haven't decided whether I want to keep this or not, I think for now I will keep it but I will be revisiting it in a few weeks.

It Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Bronzer in Warm Radiance
I would love to hit pan on this bronzer this year, I have never hit pan on a bronzer before and I think that would be so exciting. I had the realization that having twenty bronzers is useless. They are all varying shades of brown. I have gotten my single bronzer collection down to 4, granted this does not include any of the bronzers I have in palettes and I don't want to think about that right now. Rambling aside, this bronzer is a little dark for me but I really have been enjoying using it. It is very versatile because it has a matte section and a shimmery section, which could potentially eliminate the need for other bronzers.

It Cosmetics Brow Power in Universal Taupe
This item has also been in my makeup basket for about three weeks! I think this is the last repeat offender haha. My opinion of this hasn't changed from here, but the spoolie fell off of mine! So now I don't really want to use it at all! BUT I will persevere from this awful and difficult challenge!

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Bare Necessities
I'm going to declutter this. While I love the formula this color is just wrong for me, and while I can make it work, there are other lip products I would rather use than fuss with this one to make it look less neon on me. I reviewed this here.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop
This is a beautiful peachy gold shade, this was originally touted as a highlighter that would work for everyone and I don't think that is true. It can look a little dark on me if I use too much, but since I don't love heavy highlights, I only use it lightly and there is no dark streak on my face. I don't love this highlighter, but I don't hate it, it just does not blow me away. I think there are better highlighters at a lower price.

LOC x Tati One & Done Shadow stick in Impress Me
This is a beautiful rose gold bronze that looks very flattering on my eyes. I do wish it was a tad bit lighter, but it has good lasting power, even without a primer. I am trying to use this up this year, and I probably wouldn't repurchase it, cream sticks are just not my favorite formula of cream shadows.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard
This is for sure the wrong shade for me (whoops), I cannot use this as a concealer. I have tried and tried to make this color work for me as a concealer but it is just too dark and looks super orange when I do that. However, because I spent $12 on this small size I am going to use it up. It works well if I mix it with a primer and use it as a tinted moisturizer! So score! I would consider repurchasing this, in the right shade of course.

Laura Geller Spackle Supercharged
This is another product that I would like to use up this year, I was going through my primers the other day and realized that this one was probably the oldest one I owned, which is kinda silly because I love this one, but I got sucked into the thinking that I had to use the products I don't love first because then I can spend all of my time with the ones I love, but while I was using up the other products the ones I love got older... This is a thicker primer that feels really hydrating on the skin, it is creamy in color, but offers no color correction. It does not minimize pores but it does smooth over texture issues which I really like. I would consider repurchasing this once I am finished with it.

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Oh Snap
I feel bad, I feel like I'm just tearing down colourpop in this post, because I am also decluttering this lipstick. Again I love the formula this color is just not right for me. It is a warm lilac nude and it is just too light for my skin tone and makes me look like I'm dead.

Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon in Cafe
This is one of my oldest lip products, so it needs to get used up and moved out. Thankfully I feel like Bite lip products, because they are so creamy tend to be used up rather quickly, if you use them consistently. This is a peachy pink nude that is a little light for me, but not so light that I look dead. I believe this color was limited edition as well. Wow I had a lot of lip products in this makeup bag and I'm only keeping one haha.

5 Cruelty Free Blushes for Spring!

Hi all! Today I thought I would share with you the blushes I am super excited to wear this spring! It has been gorgeous here lately, like upper 40's -60's! Which is crazy! I am so glad winter is coming to an end!

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso
This blush is one that over the years I have hated it and I have loved it. Currently, though, I love it. It provides a beautiful peachy flush to the skin and eliminates any need to wear highlighter on my cheeks. Which is great because I love products that can do more than one thing, the more they do the less I do the better! It does not last for 24 hours, but it lasts for more than 2 hours, I'd say I get a good 4-5 hours out of this blush before I notice major fading. It is worth all of the hype that it got a few years ago.

Wet 'N' Wild - In a Purple Haze
This is the first purple blush I have ever owned. I really like it, especially for spring. It provides a sheer wash of lilac pink and it looks very fresh and very stunning. It does not have the best wear time, but it does not fade away weird it just naturally fades into the skin without being patchy or streaky.

Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Love Hangover
This is a gorgeous nude peach that looks absolutely stunning on the cheeks and goes with almost any eye look. It has a very long life on the cheeks and when it does fade it doesn't fade in a patchy or streaky way. This is such a beautiful blush for spring.

Wet 'N' Wild Color Icon blush in Rose Champagne
Rose Champagne is a glowy neutral blush (also is a dupe for MAC's Margin). This blush gives a nice glowy flush to the skin without looking over the top. This is also a blush that can eliminate the need for a highlighter as well. It lasts longer than the ombre blush from wet n wild but not as long as the Too Faced blush. This is just such a great blush.

BellaPierre Mineral Blush in Desert Rose
This blush is described as a peachy soft pink with a golden shimmer. It is a very sheer blush, so if you are medium to deep this blush probably won't show up on you. It gives the cheeks a nice flush without being too heavy and I have been super into mineral products lately.

What blushes have you been loving for spring? Let me know!

Makeup Bag Friday 2

Hi all! I realized that last week I had forgotten to include in the picture the Urban Decay Naked Skin powder! Haha whoops! Well here is a breakdown of this weeks makeup bag!

The name makes this mascara sound really intense, doesn't it? Unfortunately it is not as intense on the lashes as it sounds. However, I do really like it. I makes my lashes look full and fluttery without being crunchy. It does not flake on me but it does smudge a little, but nothing I can't handle. It doesn't hold a curl in my stick straight lashes very well, but I haven't found a mascara that does, if you know of any good ones let me know!

I talked about this on last week here

This is a really gorgeous sheer blush (my first impression here). It does not have a very long wear time, but I am really enjoying how natural it looks. It makes wearing purple blush less intimidating. Like I said in my first impression/haul it is much more on the pink end than I was expecting. Overall, though, I really do like it.

This was also included in last weeks makeup bag post!

Honestly, this color does not jive well with my skin, its a little too peach and super peachy lip products just don't look good on me. It is kind of hilarious that I just figured out I didn't like this one because I've used so much of it haha. Brink is a terracotta rose in Colourpop's matte lippie stix formula. It is comfortable to wear I absolute love the matte lippi stix formula it is my favorite out of all of their lippie stix finishes. Just the color, not my thing, I will be decluttering this.

You can read more about this here in my last makeup bag post

I love this, it provides a nice sheer wash of color on the eyelids and if I'm in a hurry I use this as a blush as well. These shadows are moussey and blend out well with a brush or with your fingers. They have a decent wear time without a primer as well as with a primer. I haven't noticed any creasing with this so yay!

I went into more depth about this product here. This week I finished off the sample, and as I said last week I won't be purchasing the full size!

I don't hate this concealer, but I don't love it. I think it works pretty well, I think the way they arranged their shades is stupid because shade 15 is fair and shade 10 is light. I should have gotten the shade 15, because shade 10 is a little too dark for me. I like to use this as a light foundation and it works well for that. It's meh. I wouldn't repurchase it but I'm not going to declutter it.

I love this. Like I could get rid of all of my other highlighters and just have this one forever and I would be absolutely fine. Haha, now I'm not going to do that but I could. This is the most beautiful, melds with your skin highlight. It looks natural while still offering a gorgeous glow. It is not going to give you a blinding highlight, but I honestly am not a fan of that kind of highlight, I think it looks a little silly. The pure nude highlighter is a vanilla beige shade that is a little bit deeper and more shimmery that Laura Geller French Vanilla.

This product doesn't wow me. It is meant to give you a sexy slept in smokey eye, but it is almost too blendable. The beautiful navy shade blends to basically nothing. The light blue shade is meant to go on your waterline and it looks a little crazy because it is so pigmented. It also fades really fast. Both liners are so creamy which I think is the main issue, I think the best way to make this product look like it is supposed to is to put it on and sleep in it haha just kidding. I think I am going to declutter this as well. I was given this for free from Influenster a while back just so you know, and clearly that doesn't affect my honest opinions of products.

I really have been enjoying this, however this shade in particular goes on a little streaky which is annoying, but is easily fixed. These dry down completely matte and are of course going to be a little drying, but it isn't uncomfortable. They have a sweet scent but it also smells a little chemically. The color does change a little bit from what it looks like in the tube to what it dries down to. It looks like a cool pink in the tube but dries down as a warm pink, super weird. The first few minutes after it looks dry it is a little sticky, but that goes away after a little while. Also it is apparently a dupe for KoKo K from Kylie Cosmetics.

Influenster Rosy Voxbox Unboxing

Hi all! Last Saturday I shared a sneak peak of my voxbox on Instagram! Today I thought I would share with you all what I got inside!

Included were a few things, most of which I have since had a chance to try out so I will share my first impressions of each with you!

Vera Wang Embrace in Marigold and Gardenia
This is a light sweet floral scent, perfect for spring. This one is my favorite of the two scents. I haven't worn them all day yet, so I'm not sure how long they last but probably only a few hours, unlike men's cologne which will last through the apocalypse.

Vera Wang Embrace in Rose Buds and Vanilla
Nothing against Vera Wang, but I am not fond of this. I am just not a fan of vanilla scents, they give me headaches, so I haven't worn this one at all. I'll probably pass it off to my friend because vanilla gives each of my sisters a headache as well.

Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant
I've used this deodorant a few times and it does a good job keeping the stink away. I do wish it didn't have aluminum in it, from what I've been reading, it isn't a very good thing to be putting on your arm pits. I will use it up, but after that I am going to be trying more natural deodorants without aluminum in them, so if you have any recomedations please let me know!

Fancy Feet Ball of Foot Cushions
At the moment, I cannot wear any shoes with a heal because of the arthritis in my left foot and these do nothing to help with that. I do think they would make wearing healed shoes more comfortable because they offer more cushion and support where you are putting all of the pressure, but I won't know for sure until my arthritis calms down a little bit.

Purell Advanced Hand Sanitizer Naturals
I personally am not a big fan of hand sanitizer, I would rather wash my hands, but that being said if I am going to use sanitizer, this is the one I would use. It is made with 93% naturally derived ingredients and is preservative free. Although even with this for every three times you use this you need to wash your hands because it doesn't work as effectively. (Also it is just better to wash your hands with soap and warm water)

Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Soft Waves Sea Salt Spray in Tropical Banana
I love this product, I dislike the scent of it. It smells like crayon wax, which is super weird. Also banana is a weird scent to want to put in your hair. I have the full size of this that is unscented and I much prefer this over the scented one. I do really like the product, sea salt spray's are my favorite hair products to use.

*Also this Voxbox was scent to me by influenster to test out for free, never the less all opinions are my own, like always*

Cruelty Free Beginner's Guide - Highend

Hi all! So for today I thought I would share my cruelty free highend beginners guide! Whether you are a teen and just starting out with makeup or are older and just starting out with (or getting back into) makeup I hope my suggestions will help you through the crazy world of Sephora and Ulta! (an * denotes a category that I personally did not use for some time when I started wearing makeup)

*Primer (face and eye)
Starting off with a face primer I really like this for dry skin Urban Decay Brightening and Tightening Complexion Primer Potion ($31) and I have heard good things about the Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Primer ($36) for oily skin. The Urban Decay primer feels and looks like a thicker conditioner and does not seem to have a smell. The Becca Ever-Matte primer is very thick and has a fresh scent. It is not a typical silicone primer, it is more of a thick, tacky gel but quickly dries down to a smooth (and very slightly tacky), but not slick, almost powdery finish. This primer really adheres your makeup to your face and provides good longevity in terms of wear time.
For eye primer I have really been liking the Too Faced Shadow Insurance ($20)! It is a translucent, very basic but good, primer, I haven't tried any yet that have color in them, so I will let you know once I try one I like!

*Foundation
Foundation is a little bit trickier to recommend, because I typically only buy foundations that will work for my skin type, which is dry - drier than the Sahara Desert. But I have 2, kinda 3 options for you.
First, if you know you only want a full coverage foundation - and you don't have sensitive skin I recommend the Urban Decay All Nighter ($40), I received a sample of this and while it was very full coverage and looked gorgeous on the skin, my sensitive skin hated it and my whole face started to itch.
If you do have sensitive and dry skin I really have liked the Laura Geller Baked Liquid Radiance Foundation ($38), it covers without making you look flat or matte or cakey! Also, bonus, it has color correcting pigments - whatever that means
Second, if you want both a full coverage foundation but also a tinted moisturizer, I recommend getting a full coverage foundation like the All Nighter or the Laura Geller one and for a tinted moisturizer just mix a small amount of foundation with your favorite moisturizer!
Third, if you know you only want the very light minimal coverage of a tinted moisturizer I recommend the BareMinerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream ($29)! This stuff has a light almost mousse-y texture and has SPF 30, which I always like it when everything I put on my face, especially in the summer, has an SPF in it. Now this wont cover hardly anything, but it does even out the complexion in a way that makes it hard to tell if you are wearing any base makeup.

Concealer
My favorite concealer is the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eyes concealer ($24). The smallest baby pea sized amount will easily cover both under eyes with some to spare. This concealer has a thick consistency, but I have had no issues blending it out with a beauty blender. The Bye Bye Under Eyes, like all under eye concealers, should be set with a powder to avoid creasing.
For general face concealing I really like the BareMinerals Correcting Concealer with SPF 20 ($21). It comes in a pot and has a very thin consistency, but it packs a pretty good punch, in terms of coverage. The concealer blends out easily with a brush, beauty blender, or even a finger.

Powder
I have two options for you, the Too Faced Cocoa Powder Foundation ($34) and the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores loose powder ($24) (although they make a pressed version which is also good!). I really like the Too Faced Cocoa Powder foundation in the summer when I am more oily, I think it gives a beautiful finish too the skin. Unfortunately like all powder foundations, if you use too much it can get a little cakey and powdery looking. This can also be lightly used as a setting powder too. Now if you just want a setting powder, I really recommend the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores loose powder, it makes my skin feel so smooth and sets any creams really nicely. This is a translucent powder but if you want a loose powder with color I recommend the Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition loose finishing powder ($34) (holy super long name Batman!). I have a review of it here.

*Blush
One of my favorite multitasking blushes is the Japonesque Velvet Touch blushes in the shade 03 ($22). This shade is a beautiful peachy pink with a golden sheen. It reminds me of Nars Orgasm ($30) but lighter and without the chunky gold glitter. The reason I called this blush a multitasker is because there is a golden sheen, you would not necessarily need to use a highlighter. This can save you both time and money. However, if you want a matte blush I really like the Tarte Amazonian Clay blush ($28) in Prim, it is a neutral mauvey nude shade that goes with just about any makeup look.

*Bronzer
Bronzer is something I didn't use until way after I started the makeup game and even now I'm still not someone who uses it all the time. For this category I would recommend one of the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzers ($30) (there is Milk Chocolate for fair-light skin tones, the regular Chocolate Soleil for light-medium-tan skin tones, and dark chocolate for tan-deep skin tones). These are buttery smooth bronzers with good blend-ability and longevity. Plus they are matte, which are way easier to work with when you are first starting out (and if you want you could use them to contour).

*Highlighter
Again this is I didn't start off with but I do really like Becca highlighters ($38), they have a nice range of super smooth powders that can work for every skin tone. I personally like Moonstone and Champagne Pop. The two downsides of these are 1. they can shatter pretty easily and 2. they tend to emphasize pores and texture on the cheek bones. So for those of you with texture on your cheeks I recommend the Laura Geller Baked Highlight in French Vanilla. It is a beautiful beige vanilla shade with a nice sheen and no glitters. It is on the more natural end of the highlighter spectrum though, so be aware.

*Eyeshadow
While I didn't use this for some time, this is something I would recommend using first before you start using eyeliner, but that is just what I have come to realize looking back. My favorite eyeshadow palette is the Tartelette In Bloom Palette ($46)! It has a nice variety of matte shades and three shimmery eyeshadows in the perfect shades. The shadows are lined up in four rows each containing four shades that would look good together. This palette is nearly foolproof, it has large shadows and I would consider it a pretty good deal at $46. However, that price can be brought down if you buy it during the VIB sale at Sephora, or through Dermstore.com they have a lot of really good sales throughout the year.

Eyeliner
The absolute best black eyeliner is the Highliner Gel Crayon from Marc Jacobs in Blacquer ($25), it goes on so smoothly and so pigmented. It also has a really good wear time. For a brown eyeliner I like Laura Geller i-care waterproof eyeliner in Caffe Mocha ($20), it smudges really well and creates a perfect, natural smokey eye. It lasts well throughout the day, and even though it is waterproof I haven't had any trouble getting it off!

*Eyebrows
I really like the It Cosmetics Brow Power, I reviewed it here.

Mascara
The Tarte Lights Camera Lashes ($21) is one of my favorites and good for those with sensitive eyes, like myself. It creates beautiful fluttery lashes with some volume. It is a really good mascara. However, be careful of the waterproof one! That one is super hard to get off!

*Lipliner
Lip liners are a very personal thing, the formulation and whether it feathers or not people tend to be really picky about. I have two that I personally really like and they are the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil in Ozone ($18), which is a clear lip liner that will stop feathering without changing the color of the lipstick, and the Marc Jacobs Poutliner Longwear Lip Pencil in Primrose ($24), it is a beautiful everyday deep neutral pink. Both do a great job at lining the lips and keeping things from feathering or traveling outside of the lip line!

*Lipstick
For a sheer nude I recommend the Too Faced La Creme Lipstick in Naked beach ($22) or the Nars lipstick in Dolce Vita ($28) for a more sheer rosey nude. Neither will last long but they will be hydrating on the lips and be a super easy, no mirror touch up kind of lipstick. Which I think are perfect for everyday wear.
Now for high pigment and matte lipsticks I recommend Bite Beauty. All of there lipsticks are food grade and beautiful. I haven't hated a single formula I've tried. Their lipsticks wear well on the lips and fade off beautifully. I like the Amuse Bouche ($26) ones and the Matte Creme Lip Crayons ($24) as well. None of the lipsticks I've recommended claim to be long wearing so you likely will need to reapply, but the Bite Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayons last for about 4-5 hours on the lips with snacking and drinking water.

Let me know if you see any of your  favorites or what you are going to pick up!

Makeup Bag Friday 1

Hi all! Today I thought I would give you all a closer look into the products that I currently have in my makeup bin. I keep all of the items for the week that I want to try out or get more use out of in a little clear bin that I got from Target years ago for $1. Each week I try to switch out the products and constantly rotate through my stash to make sure that I like everything and that everything is getting used! In this post I will show you what I have been using for this week!

 February 26th - March 3rd

Urban Decay B6 Vitamin Infused Complexion Prep Spray
This is not my favorite product, it makes my face feel kind of sticky, which is really weird. The B6 spray claims to reduce redness (which I need), minimize pores (again I need), and absorb oil (which I don't need). I think this spray is just a little bit to harsh for my skin, which is a bummer because I really wanted to love it. However, I will continue to use it up until it is gone.

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water
I am currently trying to use up this foundation, and it still has so much, so this will probably be in a lot of makeup bag posts, sorry... This is a nice BB, however, it is not cruelty free and it pulls a little orange. I typically mix this with the Covergirl primer I am also trying to use up because if I don't it looks like an orange mask, also probably should have mentioned I have the shade fair/light. I like the formula of this foundation, because I don't like a lot of coverage, but I wouldn't repurchase it even if it was cruelty free.

Covergirl Outlast all-day primer
Now this, if it was cruelty free, I would repurchase. It has a lotion-y consistency and, while it may not help with longevity, it mixes with foundations beautifully and helps smooth out my skin. It is not technically a pore filler and does not have any silicone in it. This primer does not dry out my skin, make it feel tight, or break me out. I really like this, so if you are not cruelty free I would recommend this primer.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer - Custard
This shade is way too dark for me to use it under my eyes. I foolishly bought the shade that like all of the "beauty gurus" used, which I know I shouldn't have because I am so fair, but I did.... Honestly color aside, this product does not wow me. I think it is over-hyped, now I'm not saying it is a bad concealer, but I don't think it is worth the $30 price tag. However, I am probably using it wrong and the right shade would help but, I don't know, $30 is a lot for .22 oz.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Loose Finishing Powder
This is the powder I am currently trying to use up, and honestly, it is not the best for dry skinned gals. Granted, most powders are not the best for dry skinned gals... Anyway, it does a nice job of setting the face without looking powdery. This is also a good option if you want one of those HD/ silica type powders without the possibility of a flash back because this is tinted! Unfortunately it does emphasize dry patches.

Laura Geller Baked Highlighter - French Vanilla
This is a creamy vanilla highlighter shade without any discernible glitters. It offers a nice natural lit from within glow. In fact this highlighter could be used as a light setting powder. I really do like this, I think this product would work well if you had a lot of texture on your cheeks or pores, without emphasizing them. The link I provided takes you to one with a split pan of French Vanilla and Portifino for $43, but check Hautelook. On Hautelook you can usually find the single pans for around $12.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush - Paaarty
This is the birthday gift from Sephora, so it is free (!!). This is a peachy mauve shade which looks very natural on the cheeks. I have really been enjoying these, I also enjoy the Amazonian clay blushes in general.

BareMinerals Bareskin Sheer Sun Serum Bronzer - Bare Glow
I like to use this to bronze up foundations and sometimes I put it in my primer and use it just as that (the primer and bronzer serum). I don't think I would purchase it (I have a sample), it's nice but not mind blowing. I like the concept but it is a little orange.

It Cosmetics Brow Power - Universal Taupe
This used to be my favorite brow pencil, I've even used most of it up, but the more I use it and the more I've tried other brow products I've realized that I don't like how stiff and warm this is. It is still a really great brow product, it is just not my favorite anymore.

It Cosmetics Tightline Full Lash Mascara
This is a nice lash primer, I like that it is black and not white, makes it easier to cover haha. I like the super small wand especially for my lower lashes, however, I believe that NYX makes a super similar mascara for a much lower price.

Colourpop Blotted Lip - Lexi and Deja Vu
I love these, I reviewed these here.

Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint - Birthday Suit
Again this is the Sephora birthday gift this year. This is a beautiful mauve brown shade. It definitely dries down darker than it looks in the tube, but I have really been enjoying it! It is not drying and is very comfortable, I reviewed these here!

Birthday Haul!

Hey all! My birthday was just a few days ago, so I thought I would share with you what I gave myself for my birthday! I forgot to include the Sephora Birthday gift, but if you want to know more about it you can read about them on my first makeup bag Friday post!

The biggest item I splurged on, which I had been planning to do so since I found out they were going to be restocked was the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette, so far I really like it! However, I'm not a big fan of the scent, its a little too strong and sweet for my liking, but it fades away after you apply the shadows.

This was the only impulse buy, everything else I had been planning. The Essence Pure Nude highlight has been getting so much attention recently and I saw it at Ulta so I was like why not? So far I am really liking it!

I actually had this blush a few years ago but I decluttered it for some reason? This had come back on my radar a few months ago, but then when I saw Jamie Paige's dupe video and how it was a dupe for the Too Faced Papa Don't Peach blush I was sold, because again, I don't like the scent of the peach collection. Really looking forward to wearing this blush this spring and summer!

I have been wanting to pick up at least one (but really all) of the Ombre blushes when they first released, but I kept putting it off because I had too many blushes, but I finally had decluttered a bunch I never wore and I was like score I can pick one up! These are very sheer blushes, which is okay with me, I prefer sheer blushes. It doesn't look purple on the cheeks but it looks more pinky/lilacy on the cheeks and I really am enjoying it!

Let me know if you would like to see a review on any of these products!
